Microkeeper is an Australian-built workforce management and payroll platform that unifies HR, rostering, timesheets, and payroll in a single system — designed specifically for Australian Modern Awards, EBAs, and STP compliance. Unlike platforms that treat payroll as a downstream export, Microkeeper's award interpretation engine is embedded across the entire workflow: from roster creation and clock-in through to timesheet approval and pay run. The platform is used across retail, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, construction, and labour hire sectors, and supports businesses from 10 to 5,000+ employees.

■ Key Features

  • Controlled award interpretation: Award rules — including penalty rates, overtime, allowances, split shifts, and EBA conditions — are configured and applied automatically as timesheets are generated from clock-in data, with managers able to see the cost impact of roster decisions in real time.

  • End-to-end payroll: Automated wage calculations, PAYG tax, superannuation, and STP Phase 2 reporting are processed natively within Microkeeper — approved timesheets flow directly into the pay run without export or re-entry.

  • Flexible clock-in options: Seven clock-in methods supported, including mobile GPS, facial recognition, fingerprint scanner, NFC tags, and web — with biometric hardware available via the Microkeeper shop.

  • Rostering & availability: Shift scheduling with employee availability tracking, break compliance enforcement, multi-site scheduling, shift bidding, and roster templates — with labour cost forecasting visible as rosters are built.

  • Employee self-service: Staff access payslips, leave balances, and personal details, accept or decline shifts, and clock in and out — all from the mobile app, reducing inbound HR and payroll queries.

■ Who It's Best Suited For

  • Australian SMEs and multi-site businesses (typically 10–500 employees) in award-heavy industries — hospitality, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, clubs, and construction — that want rostering, timesheets, and payroll managed in a single Australian-built platform

  • Payroll and operations teams looking to eliminate manual award calculations, reduce underpayment risk, and cut the time spent on pay run preparation

  • Businesses using Xero for accounting that want a tightly integrated workforce management and payroll tool with a native, real-time sync

■ Integrates With

Xero, Beam (superannuation clearing), Teamtailor, Manatal, and One Click Life. Biometric clocking hardware available via the Microkeeper hardware shop.
