Deputy is a cloud-based workforce management platform built for businesses with hourly, shift-based, or casual workforces. Its core capabilities include drag-and-drop employee scheduling with AI-powered auto-scheduling, time and attendance tracking via mobile app, tablet kiosk or web, automatic timesheet generation with manager approval workflows, leave management, and team communication.

■ Key Features

  • Modern Award interpretation: Auto-fills penalty rates, overtime, and allowances for each employee based on the relevant award, with pay rates automatically updated when Fair Work rules change. Covers a broad library of Australian Modern Awards.

  • AI-powered auto-scheduling: AI generates shift assignments based on employee availability, qualifications, labour budgets, and demand forecasts, with fatigue alerts and compliance checks applied before the roster is published.

  • Time & attendance: Multiple clock-in methods including mobile GPS, facial recognition kiosk, and web — with timesheets auto-generated from clock-in data and auto-approval available for shifts that fall within defined thresholds.

  • Deputy Payroll (AU add-on): Launched in June 2025, Deputy Payroll is a fully integrated payroll solution that turns approved timesheets into a payroll run without export or re-entry. Supports STP Phase 2, multi-entity handling, and employee payslip access via the mobile app.

  • Labour cost forecasting: Real-time visibility into projected roster costs against sales or demand forecasts before shifts are published, with wage and labour budget controls available on Core and Pro plans.

■ Who It's Best Suited For

  • Australian SMEs and multi-location businesses (typically 10–500 employees) in hospitality, retail, healthcare, or aged care — industries where Modern Award compliance and shift-based rostering are day-to-day requirements

  • Operations managers and payroll teams looking to replace manual timesheets and reduce the risk of underpayment by automating award calculations through to payroll

  • Businesses that want scheduling, time tracking, and payroll in a single platform without maintaining separate integrations between tools

■ Integrates With

Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, ADP, Employment Hero, KeyPay, Lightspeed, Square, Shopify, and 45+ apps. Deputy Payroll (AU) available as a native add-on.
